Rebecca (Becky) Collier (Middle Level VP-Elect)
I was born and raised in a little town (Yay for Martinsville!), I then received my undergraduate degree at Elon University followed by a Counseling degree at VCU. Prior to discovering my passion in the school counseling field, I worked as the Program Director at The First Tee as a golf instructor, coach, and mentor. Through the First Tee programs, I had the privilege of working with children of all ages and teaching life skills education by exposing young people to core values through the game of golf. These life-enhancing values promote resiliency, respect, integrity, and help youth prepare for success in high school, college and life. This is my fifth year as a school counselor in Henrico County. My first year as a school counselor I had a split position between Deep Run High School and Highland Springs High School. For the past three years, I have been at Byrd/Quioccasin Middle School. Through these experiences of working with a wide range of students and families, I am inspired by the challenging work in helping young students grow socially, academically, and personally. I believe in building supportive and trusting relationships with students, teachers, administration, and families. Every day as a school counselor is an adventure! On a personal note, I have been blessed with a supportive and loving family, wonderful husband and two healthy, incredible kiddos. I feel honored to serve on the VSCA board and I look forward to working with school counselors all over Virginia!
